Nosework, Treibball

Heidi Thorson

I have been involved in canine performance sports for a little over 20 years, and currently teach nose/scent work and Treibball classes at multiple locations across the metro area.", "text": "I started trying to learn about Treibball 10 years ago via the Fenzi Online Academy. In 2024 I joined an in person class through PawsAbilities and has been hooked ever since. I started co-teaching Treibball in the fall of 2025 with Karen Sheahan and under the mentorship of NATE(National Association of Treibball Enthusiasts) Education Lead.

I have been doing nose work with my canine partners since 2011 and competing since 2012. I was drawn into the sport when she realized nose work involved understanding what the dog was communicating and deepening her relationship with her canine best buddy.  I have been involved in the first trials held in Minnesota as a competitor, a volunteer coordinator, volunteering in all roles at National Association of Scent Work (NACSW) trials, and as a score room lead.

My current little Danish Swedish Farmdog, Birdee, has titles in obedience, rally, agility, nose work, and trick dog – from multiple organizations. She has participated in AKC, CPE, WCRL, CDSP, Do More with Your Dog and dabbled in NADAC for a day. Birdee and I are in it for the fun!
